Song Lyrics

After discovering I admired the work of lyricist/songwriters such as Andrew Eldritch, Peter Steele, and many others, I decided to try my own hand at writing  music (and in particular, lyrics,) samples of which are shown here for your enjoyment.

Me with my sister, Rita, to whom this song is dedicated.

Rita

You shatter laughing clockface
Take charge of your own time
Regain mastery of your world
Your fate now realigned
Toward what you always wanted
But lay beyond your reach
Within your fingers’ grasp now
Proud destiny, inner peace

(chorus)

Seasoned now, inured you are
Wise beyond your years
Revising book of your own life
Harness your doubt and fears
Grievous wrongs you’ve done and borne
Behind you in dark past
Redesigned and built anew
Your life moves, built to last

When disoriented once
And blindly groping through
Lost in forest of needles, thinking
True friends turned on you
Will and spirit stronger, though
All hope you’d then abandoned
Determined, courage steadfast
Regained your power within
Banished shadow from your view
New sense of direction let healing begin

(chorus)

Wild life now stabilized
Though still you bear deep scars
All at once you realized
How loved you always were and are
Broken circle, friends resealed
Your mind’s clipped wings amend
And thought processes aspeed
Million tangents from point of focus
Activity sole drug you need

(chorus)

Worlds Enough and Time

If we fall in love
Will our worlds fall apart?
How long can we maintain our trust
Before it breaks our hearts?
When giddy headrush fades away
What will we still have left?
Lifelong devotion and perfect faith
Or empty promises and rust?

(chorus)
We could save the world
Or we might fall from grace
Though we float on clouds of fond cheer
We may drift, float off into space
There are worlds enough and time for love
I may love you, but is that enough?

Will all the gorgeous words we say
   Be ghosts in summer rain
Or will they take root in our souls
Grow and flower, there remain?
Though now we’re walking through a dream
What happens when morning comes?
Will sunlight chase the shadows we share
Or will our hope lose out to fear?

(chorus)

Will all our sweat and time invested
See our hearts along?
Or will our lips turn Judas, betray
Before dawn sheds its rays
Will we dream in vivid hues
True colors of love flying high?
Or will we sleepwalk through shadow
Of waking nightmare, souls collide?

(chorus 2x)
